This is a simulation of the famous Buffon's Needle Problem which asks: "What is the probability that needles dropped randomly on a plank floor will hit a crack?"
Assuming you actually care, select a number of needles to drop and hit the 'Drop Needles' button to watch the simulation. Needles with red 'head' hit a crack.
Summary results are shown below the graph. In our configuration, the length of a needles is equal to the spacing between planks.
Spoiler Alert! Curiously, the probability is related to the number π, which we estimate using the results of the simulation. See how accurately you can generate pi!
