(h,k) is known as 'the vertex' of the 'parabola'

Whaaaat?!

Oh, sorry. A 'parabola' is the technical name of the shape we get when we graph a 'quadratic function.' You might recognize it as an 'arch' (Like an 'arch' enemy?!).

The 'vertex' is the place where a parabola reaches a low place or a high place. Incidentally, the 'a' controls the shape of the arch... and if a < 0, the arch has a high place; if a > 0, the arch has a low place.
